This is a piece that is part of an installation in a touring exhibition by Jane Perryman and myself. The entire track, which is a half hour long, coincides with the release of the exhibition catalogue.

It is based on local birdsong recorded at dawn, the modified sounds taken from the sculptures in the exhibition, and, with his kind permsission, Professor Alexander Kosovichev's realization of the sun's electromagnetic pulse in work he did for the Stanford Observatory. This sound, in turn, was use to determine the pitches used by the piano and sax through deriving its main resonant frequencies with a spectral analysis.

The structure reflects the time period of the project, a year's worth of recordings made in the meadow at dawn in fortnightly intervals, with the sounds of birdsong and weather in the corresponding segment.

The length of each segment based on the length of daylight of the coresponding day. Intended as a loop, it builds from the winter solstice towards a crescendo of birdsong made at 3;45 am on the summer solstice, before going back to the relatively quiet winter solstice to begining the loop again.
